The main duties for this post include:

  • To assist in maintaining the schools IT network and systems
  • To provide first and second line support for all users, curriculum and administrative
  • To support the use of the school’s audio and visual systems
  • To support teachers and students in the classroom
  • To contribute to the overall ethos, work, aims of the school

KEY TASKS

  • To assist in maintaining the schools IT network and systems
  • To assist in providing support for the school’s server and network infrastructure
  • To provide hardware and software support for all school owned hardware
  • To assist in the monitoring of the school’s networks, including antivirus and e-Safety platforms
  • To maintain all peripherals within the school
  • To assist in the installation and maintenance of all software on computers
  • Maintain integrity of software using virus removal tools or reinstallation where necessary
  • Setup and maintain new IT equipment
  • To perform daily room checks of all IT enhanced areas, keeping a log of any faulty or damaged equipment
  • Maintain and fault find all computers around the school and organise where necessary if repairs are required
  • Make minor repairs if and where necessary
  • To assist in producing and updating department documentation including the asset database
  • To maintain professional knowledge related to the maintenance, support and upgrading of the school’s servers and networked systems
  • Ensure the continued operation of the School networks, setting up new accounts, maintaining password integrity, and assist pupils and staff to access network resources

To provide support for all users, curriculum and administrative.

  • To assist in administering user accounts and email
  • To provide support to users of the school’s Information Management System (SIMS) and other administrative software
  • To provide support to pupils and staff in accessing IT in school and remotely, and providing advice for home computer use
  • Provide technical support for staff training
  • To support the use of the school’s audio and visual systems
  • To assist in the setup and maintenance of the school’s audio and visual equipment for assemblies and functions
  • To support the school’s interactive whiteboards, interactive televisions, projectors and audio systems within classrooms

To support teachers and pupils in the classroom.

  • Provide support for learning activities
  • Provide in-class technical support for staff using IT in the classroom
  • Provide technical support and guidance to staff to understand programs, problem solve and generally support them in using hardware/software correctly

To contribute to the overall ethos, work, aims of the school

  • Undertake any reasonable duties from time to time commensurate with the grade of the post

Desired qualifications

Must hold a minimum qualifications of GCSE A*-C (or Grade 4-9) at GCSE (or equivalent qualification) in English and maths. An IT qualification is desirable however a keen interest in this sector is required.

Future prospects

You will be supported with progression on completion of your apprenticeship.

Things to consider

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will  required for the position. 

Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.

As the successful apprentice you will undertake an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3. 

This will include:

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship in Information Communcations 
  • Professional qualification - Diploma   
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • End point assessment 
  • Functional Skills if needed in maths and English 

The Apprenticeship will be delivered by a South Gloucestershire & Stroud College in Filton. You will be required to attend Filton Campus one day per week to complete any underpinning knowledge support.

You will be assigned a supervisor/mentor within the workplace, who will support you to develop your workplace skills, knowledge and experience throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme.
