This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the production department of a well-established specialist food producer, that utilises finest ingredients to produce high quality products.

The role will include:

  • Assissting the manufacturing of products to correct recipe specifcations to the highest quality and hygeine standards in line with the company's HACCP procesfures and Health & Safety procedures
  • To observe good manufacturing practices and observe strict rules of hygeine to protect raw materials, product, packaging, equiptment and machinery from contamination
  • Take instructions from the Production Supervisor as to what is required for that days production
  • Recieve raw materials and packaging into production, checking goods to make sur GRN's and Use by Dates are in date and the goods are in clean condition
  • To handle the packaging used for the company’s products (glass units, plastic buckets, lids etc.) safely and hygienically and to continually inspect for defects
  • To deal correctly and safely with all glass breakages, clearing up breakages in accordance with company procedures
  • To apply lids & labels correctly for the product being produced
  • To properly apply tamper evident seals ensuring the date code for each product produced is correct and is clearly visible
  • To stack finished product onto pallets as per specification and adequately shrink wrap
  • To clean areas of the factory in accordance with cleaning instruction cards
  • To strip, clean and re-assemble process machinery/equipment
  • To handle tools in accordance with procedures and ensure they do not present any risk of contamination
  • To complete all process paperwork as required
  • To undertake appropriate testing of product as required subject to training and/or supervision
  • To maintain a neat and tidy work area work thereby keeping risks of slips and trips to low
  • To adhere to company Health & Safety rules and regulations and wear appropriate PPE as required
  • To carry out your work functions within your work area following Health and Safety guidelines
  • To ensure you are properly equipped for your job function and equipment is used correctly and properly cared for
  • To be aware of and observe COSHH symbols on cleaning chemicals. (Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health)
  • To report any accidents/near misses to yourself and/or colleagues to the Production Supervisor/Health & Safety Officer

Training will be delivered by Poultec. The successful apprentice will be working towards a Level 2 Food and Drink Process Operator Qualification. 

Training will be delivered in the workplace, and if the successful applicant does not have GCSE Grade C / Grade 4 in English and Maths they will be expected to complete Functional Skills in English and Maths alongside their apprenticeship training.
