We are looking for an apprentice for our butchery to work 5 days per week over a 7 day rota. The apprentice will be trained in all aspects of modern artisan butchery, from carcass to seam butchery.
You will learn the importance of health and hygiene to a food business and to understand the principles of HACCP.
The tasks you will carry out will cover all aspects of a modern butchery:
- Sausage making
- Bacon curing
- Pie making
- Dealing with deliveries
- Serving customers
- Packing products
- Putting on counter displays

Things to consider
Butchery can be hard physical work, in the winter it can be a cold environment to work in. Butchery is a skills shortage, so if you are proficient and qualified you can earn a good living.
About the employer
There are three areas to our business - our farm with its Pedigree Limousin herd; our farm shop which is renowned for its meat (which is the core of our business) and also its fresh fruit and veg, onsite baked pies and cakes; and our farm shop cafe which sells many of the products available in our shop.
We have a total of 45 staff and 7 butchers.
