With a variety of areas to cover, no two days will be the same.

You will be involved in the day-to-day Front of House business at The City Inn helping to prepare and deliver an excellent customer experience.

Duties will include:

  • Glass and cutlery care
  • Taking bookings over the phone
  • Greeting guests

  • Cleaning

  • Serving tables

The City Inn would love to train an apprentice that is keen, willing to learn and punctual. Having a friendly and outgoing approach will always be helpful as well as interacting with others and communicating according to the business/brand standard.

Desired qualifications

Good educational qualifications (5 x C/4 or above GCSEs). Maths and English will be studied as a Mandatory part of the Apprenticeship if C/4 has not already been achieved. These will be studied by Block Weeks, Monday to Friday.

Future prospects

There may be an opportunity for a permanent position with the business upon full completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

  • No two days will be the same
  • The demands of the business will fluctuate, and you will be required to work Hospitality hours which can be unsociable
  • Due to the unsociable hours, please ensure you have reliable transport to get to and from the workplace each day

About the employer

Located in the heart of Truro, we are the secret pub offering locals and visitors a place to stay, eat, enjoy and drink!

We serve a variety of food during the week and a special Saturday menu available from 5pm to 8pm.

We hold many themed nights including Halloween, Rock n Roll and Live Entertainment.

We have an outside courtyard with its own dedicated bar with TV screens, music, bbq and pizza oven.
