  • Communicate with customers’ representatives in a polite, courteous, and efficient manner
  • Record all transactions and chase outstanding repairs in order to minimise equipment downtime
  • Accurately update order numbers using VMRS codes and text to ensure that maintenance records are complete
  • Provide a high level of customer service and communication once trained on how to receive, dispatch, link and close breakdown calls
  • Once trained as a member of the help desk, the role holder will check equipment service and repair history, and/or breakdown status to advise branches and customers of progression of work
  • Learn and participate in parts sourcing; learning about supply chain options with the objective of obtaining the best cost options
  • Make detailed notes on each stage of training to present to the line manager, to assist with the development of a training plan for future Maintenance Controller Apprentices
  • Observe Health & Safety and statutory regulations throughout
  • Alert the immediate superior to significant problems in good time

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Effective numeracy and keyboard skills are essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Confident and courteous telephone manner
  • Previous service parts, motor vehicles, transport or customer-based work experience is desirable
  • Negotiation skills are desirable

Personal qualities

  • Well-organised
  • Willing to learn and committed to completing the apprenticeship
  • Interested in motor vehicles and repair
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

Desired qualifications

5 GCSE's (or equivalent) including maths and English Grade C/4 or above.

Predicted grades will be accepted.

Future prospects

It may be possible to apply for a permanent position upon completion of the apprenticeship
