A Builders Merchant Apprentice would be expected to learn all aspects of working within a builder’s merchant spending time working in both the Warehouse and Sales Office including time on the trade counter. They would also be required to develop their knowledge of the products sold as well as learning about building relationships with customers and suppliers.

Duties will include:

  • Raising orders and inputting information on the computer system
  • Serving customers and answering telephones
  • During their time in the Warehouse, they will load/unload customer and supplier vehicles and pick orders for James Burrell vehicles

  • Maths and English at Grade 4/C (or equivalent) and above desirable although not essential

Things to consider

  • Full training will be given in this challenging and varied role to ensure that the apprentice has the skills and expertise to become a permanent member of the team upon completion of the apprenticeship programme. Wage reviewed and increased based on performance

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week)
