Our operations department has an opportunity for an apprentice to join them to learn all aspects of the health and safety function and the chance to pursue a professional career at the end of the level 3 apprenticeship.

Working across all areas of the Operations department the successful applicant will be involved in and learn about:

  • Health and safety legislation
  • Risk assessments
  • Method statements
  • Hazard analysis and control
  • Project commissioning
  • Standard operating procedures
  • Investigations
  • Maintaining records and management systems
  • Liaising with insurers and other external stakeholders
  • Liaising with occupational health
  • Employee wellbeing
  • General business administration

In addition, the successful applicant will also learn about food hygiene and safety and general food manufacturing.

This is an interesting and varied role, liaising with all departments across the company. The knowledge and experience gained by the apprentice could lead to general and specialist accounting roles in any industry.

The successful applicant will be a good communicator, have an eye for detail and wish to pursue a career in health and safety.

Desired qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) grade C/5 or above in Maths and English is essential.

Future prospects

You will not be recruited on a fixed-term contract, you will be given a permanent contract and a job will be available on completion of your apprenticeship. Consideration would be given to support degree level apprenticeship on completion of first apprenticeship.

Things to consider

We are in a fairly rural location, so own transport would be required. Starting salary will be reviewed annually and on progress to completing the apprenticeship. There is some flexibility around hours and days of work may be required from time to time.
