This is a 12 month Lean Manufacturing apprenticeship. You will spend three months in each of the following departments to gain various skills - plating, polishing, machine shop, logistics, soldering.

The main functions will include:

  • Responsible for the processing of components to the quality standard required by the company
  • Report any quality issues / concerns to the team leader
  • Keep the team leader aware of the stock level of consumable items and highlight items that are out of stock
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and good housekeeping standards
  • Load/unload equipment, as necessary
  • Identify, record and pack components as required
  • Organise products for processing to ensure timely processing and effective utilisation of equipment
  • Undertake all work in accordance with work instruction sheets and standard process procedures and operations
  • Complete production and technical records as required
  • Conduct regular plant process and procedure audits /inspections
  • Recognise, rectify, or report any trends in rejects and other quality issues
  • Undertake laboratory analysis as required
  • Liaise with others as required and assist as necessary in resolving any quality or production issues
  • Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement

Desired qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) grades A*-C or 9-4 in English and Maths - as a minimum.

This apprenticeship will be delivered via virtual classroom sessions over a period of 12 months, including distance learning materials, as well as regular visits by your assessor, at the company site.
