To support the Production Manager and associated personnel in a varied and multifunctional job role within the Production Facility in order to assist in the development and effectiveness of the department.

This position will require attention to detail, the ability to interact and communicate effectively within a team, along with a methodical and structured approach.  The successful candidate will be open to change and development whilst undertaking critical and key tasks in order to facilitate improvements within the department.   

As a Production Assistant Apprentice, you will undertake a broad based induction programme within the production department to provide a good level of understanding of the production flow, the sequence and consequently relating to all aspects of the system.

Your support will include the use of Microsoft Office, intranet based functions along with bespoke company programmes and will include:

  • Holiday bookings and entering on to the database
  • Liaising with personnel regarding training requirements and bookings
  • Scanning of training certificates and filing of hard copies
  • Data Input relative to production based schedules
  • To liaise and monitor progress with time dependant subcontractors and suppliers
  • Completing various reports for comparison purposes
  • Assisting with documentation and writing emails / notes to support the 4 working shifts
  • Generate Induction packs for new employees and finalise necessary supporting paperwork

This provides a (non exhaustive) guide to the job role but it is intended that you will become a valued and integral part of forward thinking department.

Training through HWGTA normally comprises of five days per week in company, with one day release as and when required at our Training Centre at Holmer Road, doing an appropriate course of study. Functional Skills maths, English and ICT ( if required). 

A monthly monitoring visit in company will also take place, during which, we make ourselves available for discussion about any special training that may be useful to you and to identify and resolve problems if they arise.

In addition, the training programme includes an optional 5-day team building residential course, usually held in April/May each year.
