Duties will include:

  • Loading build bed
  • Checking resin levels
  • Creating build process and uploading
  • Post processing involves removing parts from machine
  • Removing support excess resin, and curing parts in UV oven
  • Maintenance and cleaning of equipment and machines will also be required Preparing and packing the models ready for delivery with accuracy and detail is an important aspect
  • Part preparation will involve computer orientation of models for best quality and efficiency

  • Good general PC skills also experience of 3D design, CAD, and the manufacturing processes desirable

Future prospects

  • The company has grown over the past two years increasing the number of employees. The forecasts are good and should enable good prospects for employment at the end of the apprenticeship

Things to consider

  • The working week is Monday to Friday. The unit is in operation from 9.30am to early hours of the morning as orders received one day need to be available by 6.30am the following day
  • Generally the working day for an apprentice would be 11am to 7.00pm. with half an hour for lunch. We would appreciate some flexibility around this

About the employer

AM3D is a Sunderland company looking to help introduce businesses to 3D printing. This could range from needing a single printed part to installing a full 3D bureau. It is the parent company of 3D Printed Dental Models which uses digital techniques to support dentists, labs and orthodontists in producing layered 3D models. The manufacture of dental and orthodontic appliances using 3D printing provides a superior surface finish and fit compared to traditional methods. These appliances can also be manufactured faster, resulting faster patient turnaround. It is a SME based in the Washington Business Centre with eight employees.
