About the Role:

To provide support to the class teacher across a range of activities, which promote child development and learning.

To support teaching and learning, providing general and specific assistance to children and staff under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of a teacher.

To work with individuals or groups of children as directed by teachers.

To provide learning support to children who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning, including SEND pupils and EAL pupils.

To take personal responsibility for specific tasks, children or people as directed by teachers or other supervisory staff.

  • To prepare and clear up learning environment and resources, including photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of children’s work

  • To support learning by organising and providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher
  • To work with individuals/small groups of children under the direction of the teacher

St. Giles is the only Primary Special School in Derby City. We are a warm and friendly school which meets the needs of pupils aged 4-11 with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and those with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
