The Boutik, an award winning hair and beauty salon, are looking for a hairdressing apprentice to join their friendly team in Plymstock.

As a hairdressing apprentice, your duties are likely to include meeting and greeting our clients, booking appointments, shampooing, conditioning, blow drying and styling hair, also colour and lightening using a range of techniques.
You will also study hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection, alongside environmental and sustainable working practices. There’s also the option to learn about promoting products, perming, and working with different hair types.
Requirements and prospects
The ideal candidate will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills to work with a range of clients and colleagues within the salon environment. You must be able to work well as a team, be enthusiastic about your training and have creative flair.
The successful apprentice will also need to have a genuine passion for the hairdressing industry. High standards of personal hygiene and appearance are also essential.
You will need to be able to promote a positive image at all times and be polite and courteous to everyone.
There are no formal qualifications required for this role, just a willingness to learn new skills.
After having completed your apprenticeship training with Skills Group, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a higher level qualification, start to build up your own clientèle as a Junior Stylist or broaden your skill set with an alternative hairdressing role.

They are located in the quiet residential area of Plymstock about 15 minutes from Plymouth city centre. The founder and owner, Abigail, started out in the beauty industry in 2002 aged just 17.

The Apprenticeship in Hairdressing includes:
- Level 2 Hair Professional (Hairdressing / Barbering)
- Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing / Barbering)
- Functional Skills in maths and English
Many aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site and you will have regular visits every 2 to 4 weeks from your designated assessor from Skills Group, who will monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.
As part of your apprenticeship you will be expected to attend college one day per week, where you will improve upon your knowledge and practical skills.
The apprentice will also attend weekly training sessions with the salons support.
