The duties that an apprentice would be expected to take on would be:

  • Assisting the head chef in the preparation, cooking and service of the menu including starters and desserts, washing up, cleaning down
  • Maintain knowledge and abide by all health & safety and hygiene regulations
  • Manage portion control and food wastage
  • Be responsible for daily tasks like stock management and food rotation
  • To be able to work efficiently and effectively in the kitchen environment

The working week would be approximately 30-35 hours per week which would include evenings, weekends and breakfast shifts.

The starting wage would meet minimum wage requirements but if progression is being made then this would be negotiable over time.

The Hostelrie at Goodrich is a country pub with rooms, recently taken over by Katherine and Daniel who want to keep the atmosphere of a welcoming rural location but have a level of service and a quality of products that establishes themselves as having a destination food venue with a high reputation. This will be achieved through hard work and recruiting the right people who will be trained and nurtured to deliver the standards that are required.
