Ashbourne Lodge are looking for permanent, full-time Kitchen assistants to join our fantastic, hard-working team. As our kitchen assistant, you’ll: –
- help to provide the food and hospitality that enable us to give our residents exceptional all-round care.
- prepare and serve food to our residents, so some experience in a care environment would be helpful.
- provide assistance to the chef at breakfast times
- The teatime shift entails serving food to our residents and assisting them with their meals.
Ashbourne Lodge is the only care home in the county of Derbyshire to hold 4 out of 5 ‘outstanding’ ratings. The home has established itself within its local community of Ashbourne and neighbouring villages, and has attained a number of other accolades including the Derbyshire Quality End of Life Award, Amber Valley Trusted Trader status and individual team members have received regional and national recognition at the Great British Care Awards.
Requirements and prospects
Desired skills
You should have a passion for cooking and preferably for working in older people’s services. We require someone who is reliable and dedicated to assisting in the production of high-quality food for our residents.
Personal qualities
Good communicator, honest, reliable and able to work well within a team. Kind and friendly nature, especially as you will be serving meals to our residents.
Desired qualifications
- You should have a good standard of maths & English ideally GCSE 4/C or above.
Future prospects
- There is strong potential for permanent employment on completion of your apprenticeship.
Things to consider
- Some weekend working is required. We are based in Ashbourne, so please bear in mind you may need to use public transport if you live outside of the area.

Milford Care are a private care provider, operating 6 homes in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. We are a family-run company, remaining in the hands of the same two families who founded the company over 35 years ago. We employ 450 across the group and our head office is based in Belper.
