Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Product making from scratch including bacon, sausages, burgers, biltong and charcuterie
  • Curing
  • Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, serving, answering questions, and accepting orders or payments
  • Providing customer with bespoke butchery to meet their needs
  • Coordinating deliveries or order pickups
  • Answering telephone to customer service standards
  • Taking verbal and written messages for management and staff
  • Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment and ensuring displays and signage are accurate and attractive
  • Weighing, packaging, pricing, and displaying products
  • Keeping safety and cleaning records
  • Cleaning of equipment, premises and buildings to high standards
  • Adhering to food safety and sanitation controls
  • Become accredited with Food Hygeine Certificate
  • Working within a team environment in a professional and approachable manner
  • Full training will be given within a team of exceptionally skilled craftsman

Future prospects

  • Because of the scope of roles within the business, it is expected that the trainee will find their niche in retail customer service, in butchery and production, in the abattoir, in business management or in health and safety; however being part of a small team the team all play a part in all aspects of the business

Things to consider

  • Hours will be ideally 42.5 over 5 days. The position is in New Ferry Wirral but candidates must be prepared to travel to Liverpool on occasions to the other outlet in Brunswick Dock at Delifonseca
  • Initially pay will be at apprentice rate for 8 weeks moving to NMW for the age of the candidate for the duration of the apprenticeship

Butcher Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Reaseheath Training will be the apprenticeship training provider for this Apprenticeship
  • The employer will give guidance and support throughout and a mentor will be assigned to you
  • Off-the-job training must make up at least 20% of the apprentice’s contracted hours, over the total duration of the apprentice’s planned training period
  • This Standard apprenticeship may include Functional Skills in maths, English & ICT
  • Reaseheath Training also offer optional extra industry qualifications at additional cost
