The Old Village Shop, Blackwater is offering a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and willing apprentice to join their professional team, whilst striving towards a Level 2 Commis Chef qualification.

Daily duties:

  • Preparing food
  • Cooking home made products
  • Preparing salad
  • Cleaning
  • Washing up
  • Serving customers
  • Deliveries
  • Stock rotation
  • Till operation and cash handling
  • Ordering 
  • Food hygiene
  • Checking dates and keeping on top of them
  • Help with daily operation in the shop if the Deli is quiet

About the employer

The Old Mill Village Shop is an independently run popular village shop based in Blackwater, located on a popular road. It has its own Post Office which is open 7 days a week. It also boasts a Deli which serves hot and cold food. It serves for passing trade and as a take-away for the local community going into the evening.

The Deli opening times are:

Monday: 7:00am to 5:00pm

Tuesday: 7:00am to 5:00pm

Wednesday: 7:00am to 5:00pm

Thursday: 7:00am to 5:00pm

Friday: 7:00am - 8:00pm

Saturday: 7:00am - 8:00pm

Sunday: 10:00am - 4:00pm

  • Intermediate apprenticeship standard Commis Chef
  • As part of this apprenticeship, you will need to achieve the Level 2 Commis Chef qualification, before undertaking the final End Point Assessment
  • Assessor support will be provided in the workplace
  • College attendance will be required at our Camborne campus, so you will need to be able to get to this venue.
  • You will be required to undertake Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Mathematics (if not already held)
