A prestigious salon based in the city of Peterborough, is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about starting a career in hairdressing.
This will be a full-time position of a minimum of 30 hours a week and these hours will be discussed at interview stage, but will include Saturdays and late evenings.
Typical daily tasks will include:
- Observing stylists
- Ensuring the salon is kept clean and safe
- Booking customer appointments over the phone and face to face and answering the phone
- Assisting stylists
- Being responsible for bringing own models for assessments and logging your online college journal to ensure you are doing 20% off the job training hours
As part of your working month, you will be visited by an Assessor from Heart of England Training and you must attend Teams sessions remotely once every 2 weeks.

Future prospects
On completing level 2 Hair standard, there is the option to do level 2 Customer Service and in time, to do your level 3 Standard Advanced and Creative Hair qualification.
Things to consider
Applicants must have a realistic idea of what it is like to work as an apprentice in the hairdressing industry and must be willing to help out with the less glamorous tasks such as cleaning.
Please be aware that when working as a hairdressing apprentice, part of your daily jobs will be to clean and tidy the salon.
There will be some long periods of activity with little time to rest.
Applicants also need to ensure that they are willing to work Saturdays and at least one late evening before applying for the position as this is a requirement when working in the hairdressing industry.

The successful apprentice will be doing training and be assessed in the following areas:
- Shampoo and consultation
- Styling hair
- Cutting hair
- Colouring and lightening hair
- Perming hair
You will also be undertaking an end point assessment once you have gained the knowledge and skills within the qualification.
You will be training in salon and have an Assessor visit the salon once a month to do assessments, other sessions will be over Teams.
