Provide support for the Commercial Department, responsible for various key tasks such as commercial analysis and database upkeep, support for client projects and business efficiency planning.

There will be an element of working with both existing and customer accounts to ensure customer satisfaction and that all commitments and deadlines are met.

Provision of commercial support to all divisions and supporting the Commercial team on all major projects as well as providing ad-hoc support to other divisions of the Group.

Key areas of focus will include the following:


  • Administration support
  • Invoice processing
  • Hard copy document management 

New business

  • Completion of Request for Information and Request for Quotation documentation
  • Management of initial new enquiries and continuing to provide support throughout the process
  • Management of consultancy enquiries
  • Creation of operating agreements and proposals
  • Ownership of new business CRM
  • Send out weekly updates of leads to the Commercial Team
  • Send out weekly reports to key stakeholders with Group

Existing Business

  • Ownership of existing customer CRM
  • Discussing key dates of agreements with the commercial team and producing the appropriate commercial documentation using existing templates
  • Management of the monthly site update for depots
  • Customer Services / relationships management and improvement

Requirements and prospects

  • Excellent self motivation and self discipline
  • Experience using Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as a team player with excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • The ability to co-ordinate a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility – the ability to adapt and cope with the unexpected
  • Driving License or working towards this when at the legal age

  • 5 GCSEs + C above (or equivalent qualifications)
  • GCSE English & Maths, grade -C or above (or equivalent qualifications)


Future prospects

Following the successful completion of the apprenticeship a full development plan will be created to ensure the candidate continues to develop and progress within the business. This will include the opportunity for secondments and operational exposure to build understand of the business further.

The commercial team is based out of the Howard Tenens Logistics Head Office in Stroud. The role includes exposure to the full business and is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has an interest in developing into a leader one day.

Business Administrator level 3.

Each apprentice will be allocated a Coach to support ongoing learning and preparation for EPA.  In addition Progress Reviews will take place regularly to ensure the apprentice is on track.

 End Point Assessment

 The three EPA assessment methods are:

  • Knowledge Test
  • Portfolio-based Interview
  • Project Presentation
