Commis Chef Apprentice Whipper Inn

As a Commis Chef you’ll be the first rung of the ladder to becoming a great chef. You’ll do food preparation work and basic cooking under the supervision of a chef de partie or section chef, rotating through sections such as sauce, vegetables, fish and butchery.

Duties will include:

  • To keep the kitchen area and adjoining areas clean and tidy at all times
  • To carry out the 'mis en place' of your section before each shift according to Company specifications
  • To make and serve to the waiters the customers orders, and to serve food quickly and properly
  • To ensure at all times that the customers receive the attention, standard and service they are entitled to
  • To assist the chefs you are working with in their section
  • To always deal with passing customers in a polite, pleasant and professional manner
  • To adhere to the standard of safety, hygiene and cleanliness laid down by the law and the company policies
  • To carry out service according to Company specifications
  • To work with and help the chef maintain good and accurate stocks
  • To abide by Health & Safety and Food & Hygiene legislations at all times
  • To wear and maintain the correct uniform
  • To behave with other members of the staff in a polite, honest and friendly way
  • To be punctual at all times
  • To report to the chef on duty any complaints, incidents, accidents or any other irregularities
  • To carry out any reasonable request as made by the management
  • To attend department and general staff meetings
  • To attend any training sessions as judged reasonably necessary by the management
  • To abide by the house rules at all times
