Level 3 (A level)
The main aspect of the role involves bench skills and techniques, using conventional tools which is a very practical role.
You will develop skills using machinery and a variety of hand tools to assist with the production of precision tools.
You will learn to use:
- Conventional grinding machine
- lthes and trained on CNC machinery on both programming and operating using CAD drawings
Requirements and prospects
Good with converting measurements, imperial measurements are used still in this industry.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Natural problem solver with a logical approach
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance history
- Engaged and a willingness to learn
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Excellent communication skills
- Great hand to eye co-ordination
- Be enthusiastic about the engineering industry
You must have grade 8-4/A-C, equivalent or above.

Level 3 Engineering Technician Standard
As part of your apprenticeship you will be required to attend LEMA Academy for 2 days a week voluntarily to complete a Level 1 in Engineering prior to starting your apprenticeship.
Once you have secured your apprenticeship position you will then be required to attend LEMA Academy for 1 day a week, with regular block weeks for the 42mth programme. During this time, you will complete your Level 3 Apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering.
You will be fully trained on the job to become a highly skilled precision Engineer.
