The salon experience generally starts at the hands of the apprentice; learning the art of scalp massage will help put your client at ease and ready for their cut.

Duties are likely to include:

  • Blow-drying
  • Booking appointments
  • Shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair
  • Mixing and applying hair colouring

You’ll study hairdressing topics such as hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection – there’s also the option to learn about promoting products, perming, and working with different hair types.

Desired qualifications

Qualifications required for this role include A*-E (2-9) in English and maths or the equivalent, for example Functional Skills.

Future prospects

Once having completed your Level 2 qualification, you will have the opportunity to work towards your Level 3 to further enhance your skills.

Diamond Cut would like to welcome their next apprentice to their Hair Salon in Chudleigh. The salon is within easy reach of Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton, and Exeter, with parking across the road for easy access and the salon is on a bus route.

The salon pride themselves on their attention to detail and offering a unique tailored experience for each client. They have been established for over 9 years and now have 3 stylists.

The salon also boasts an extensive range of the latest styling equipment and products this includes award winning TIGI and Great Lengths which is used by top stylists.

They feel that they offer something different from the norm. Diamond Cut believes that hair fashions may come and go, but for Tina the salon stylist and her team keeping in touch with the latest trends and classic traditional styles is all in a day’s work.
