This is an exciting opportunity to start your career as an Apprentice Commis Chef working alongside Cornish Chef/Restaurateur Ben Tunnicliffe and Head Chef Matt Smith at their latest venture at The Packet Inn at Rosudgeon .You will be working with local fresh produce from local suppliers

An exciting opportunity for a committed individual to work in a fast-paced kitchen, working alongside the chefs and other team members to ensure great quality food is produced and the hygiene and health and safety within the kitchen is maintained,

What will your day-to-day duties involve?

  • Preparing and cooking menu to a high standard as per company specification
  • Be passionate about cooking and cleanliness
  • Be able to read recipes and be able to prepare & cook the dishes as specified in the recipe
  • Be able to move around all sections within the kitchen & be trained in all sections
  • Have a high standard of work practice and hygiene and health and safety standards
  • Ensure no foodstuff is unnecessarily wasted
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good organisational skills
  • Willing to learn new skills
  • Ensure food preparation and control meets requirements in respect of COSHH, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and any incidents are reported in line with procedures

You will also be required to keep up to date with all Apprenticeship work, and to have regular meetings (every 4-6 weeks) with the Regional Trainer to discuss your work

Things to consider

This is a role with a demanding schedule to incorporate a mix of early shifts, late evenings and weekends due to the nature of the business. Minimum hours are 30 but you could be asked to work up to 40 hours during busy periods wage will be pro-rata accordingly.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
