Primary Job Function:
To work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge which will assist the apprentice to complete their qualification and secure employment and progress in their career in the future.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To undertake a development programme leading to a National Vocational, City & Guilds and Btech qualifications as part of an apprenticeship.
To actively participate in their own development plan which will be agreed with the line manager, training manager and the assessor from the training provider. As directed, undertake a work programme in the Engineering Department to develop practical skills and knowledge of the skills required to work as a shift Engineer on site.
You will be asked to work as a team to assist with faults on various different machines and problem solve the cause, examples include:
- A piston should close a valve when a leaver is operated - the valve does not move, correct the fault
- A motor should start when a button is pressed, it does not start, correct the fault
- A gearbox is running hot, investigate why this could be
- A trolley should stop at a given point but overshoots its mark, correct the fault

- GCSE Maths and English grade C or 4 and above (or equivalent)
Possibility of future permanent employment as a shift-based engineer.
