    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Your role at We Care Solutions will be to share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that promotes independence. Care Provided by care assistants is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the services users own family, and will not include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse.  Only when trained to do so, would care assistants undertake any special tasks.

A normal day would include:

  • To assist service users with all personal care needs including undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting needs.
  • To assist service users with mobility problems, and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, and help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  • To engage in the promotion of mental & physical well being of service users, through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them, activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, and recreations.
  • To make and change beds, and all domestic tasks within the household.
  • Where required, to assist with service users laundry, including using a launderette where necessary.
  • To read and write reports, and take part in staff and service users meetings, and in training activities as directed.
  • To perform such other duties as directed/required.
  • To comply with We Care Solutions Manchester Ltds policies and procedures at all times, which include the service users care plan and medication needs.
  • To report to the registered manager any significant changes in the health or circumstance of a service user.
  • To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
  • All staff are required to attend mandatory training where appropriate, this includes induction and National Vocational Qualifications or their equivalent.
  • To enable and assist service users to maintain on a day to day basis as such autonomy and independence as possible.
  • To support and assist service users in identifying risks and recording the support plan which minimises and manages the identified risks.
