Menus change on a regular basis, with dishes created from fresh seasonal ingredients, which are locally sourced wherever possible, and this will provide the apprentice with the opportunity to learn to prepare, cook and serve a wide range of dishes from fresh ingredients. To support the business growth, the company wish to recruit and train an apprentice commis chef, who can learn within their job role, and become a valued part of the hospitality team. The successful applicant will need to show an enthusiastic approach to learning, and developing themselves within the business, a commitment to team work, whilst putting the customer at the heart of their work.

Things to consider

  • Working times are likely to include day, evening and weekend shifts. Some split shifts
  • The apprentice will need to offer flexibility in rotas.
  • The on program learning will need to be completed before the end point assessment can be taken.
  • The candidate should check travel arrangements and ensure they have the ability to travel safely to/from work

About the employer

The Croft is a recently opened restaurant in the village of Hadnell, just outside the historic town of Shrewsbury. The restaurant is newly built, on the site of the 5* Beaconsfield Holiday park. The restaurant is of contemporary design, providing a relaxed dining experience at lunch and evening, with breakfast available over the weekends. ln addition, The Croft offers conference, events, weddings and banqueting facilities. The owners have ambitious plans for The Croft, with a vision to be the leading dining and venue facility in the local area and beyond.

  • Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship standard

This will be delivered with workplace training, and assessor support sessions to develop overall knowledge, skills, and behaviours to meet the apprenticeship standards.

Functional Skills maths and English to be achieved at Level 1, also taking a Level 2 test in each subject, (unless exempt by prior achievement). Functional Skills will be delivered by arrangement.
