- Customer service on the butchery counter
- Cleaning to food safety standards
- Understanding different cuts of meat
- Understanding of how to cook different cuts of meat
- Preparing different cuts of meat for display
- Packing individual meat products for display
- Production of value added meat products
- Price and date checking of meats and meat products
- Keeping the work area clean, tidy and free from debris
- Cleaning at the end of the shift
- Working in a team

Desired qualifications
- GCSE's English and maths or equivalent are desirable however not essential as Functional Skills are offered as part of the Apprenticeship Standard
Future prospects
- Qualify as a butcher within the meat department and take on a full time position at the end of the training if suitable and a position is available
Things to consider
- 40 hours over 5 days often will be Saturday and Sunday
- The role may be physically demanding
