Duties/responsibilities to include:

  • Work in partnership with parents and carers, using good communication skills effectively
  • Provide a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for the children in your care
  • Work as part of a team under the guidance of the room leader or other senior person
  • Support the work of the key people
  • Undertake duties as delegated by the room leader or senior staff member
  • Help to deliver a range of activities to the children in your group that are fun and age appropriate
  • Offer ideas to the planning and to follow the weekly activities and monthly theme
  • Attend staff meetings and room meetings
  • Adhere to the setting’s policies
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ensure your classroom is maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness
  • Ensure toys and equipment including tables and chairs are deep cleaned weekly and tables and chairs cleaned every day after the children have eaten
  • Ensure the children’s all round needs are being met including nappy changing, serving food and assisting the children at mealtimes
  • Prepare children for rest times and outdoor play
  • Any other additional duties
  • Be personally accountable for your role and duties given

GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A*-C/9-4 in English and Maths.

Future prospects

The successful candidate can progress onto a higher level apprenticeship externally, into employment, or onto further training at college.
