    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Our restaurant is little off the beaten track in the west quarter of the city but offers quality dining in Exeter. We are a close supportive team loking to give a new apprentice the best start to their career within the hospitality sector. Our cosy romantic restaurant requires the best service for our loyal customers. Each customer is different and we need a team to deliver top quality service at all times.

Your duties as an apprentice will include:

  • Customer Service and interaction - meeting and greeting customers.
  • Taking Orders.
  • Table Service.
  • Serving food and Drinks.
  • Setting up the dining room for service.
  • Assistance with basic food preparation.
  • Plateing dishes to a high standard.
  • Clearing tables and some Pot Wash.

Future prospects

On completion of your intermediate apprenticeship, you might be considered for the advanced apprenticeship programme. Alternativly fulltime employment could be offered.

Things to consider

Please consider travel arrangements when applying for this vacancy. The hospitality industry requires the successful apprentice to work evenings, weekends and some bankholidays. Under 18s can serve alcohol only when supervised.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is �3.30 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
