    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

This job role is in a busy country pub and restaurant environment working in the kitchen environment.

The bar and brasserie menus offer an eclectic mix of modern British cookery with influences from around the world.

The apprentice chef will be trained alongside the chef on how to use knives, work to multiple food checks, prepare dishes according to our menu, organise work area and work to Environmental Health and Safety standards. The ideal candidate should be able to work in a team, be flexible, use their own initiative and be proactive and confident in their approach to work.

  • All aspects of City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery or Level 2 Food Production and Cooking will be covered.
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths & English if required
