    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Day to day duties will include:


  • Supporting the office manager with the day to day running of a very busy transport operation
  • Dealing with any telephone enquiries in a polite and friendly manner

The successful candidate will need to have excellent oral and communication skills with numerical competency . To have very strong time management skills. The right person will need to be a team player but also able to work on own initiative as they develop.  The ability to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.  Strong customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships are also essential.  Capable of completing tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

Personal qualities

The successful candidate will need to be committed and driven, full of energy with a willingness to learn and work hard.  Problem solving with the ability to think laterally to resolve issues is also required.   Confidentiality a must and able to communicate.

Qualifications required

Minimum A-C GCSE in Maths, English, Science and IT or equivalent.
