Chef Apprenticeship position available to learn the preparation and cooking of all fresh ingredients on site. This will include meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, breakfast, banqueting and desserts. You will learn basic kitchen skills and in addition learn about food hygiene, health & safety, storage and cleaning.To assist Chefs with achieving targets set by MCC on food standards, health & hygiene & food safety in a variety of kitchen environments (main kitchen, cold production, pastry, Committee & Players Dining Room, Members Dining and Tavern Pub.)

  • To assist goods receiving team as required
  • To understand the business needs and requirements
  • To assist maintaining all Health, Hygiene and Safety records
  • Assist in ensuring the highest standard of cleanliness is maintained within the kitchen.
  • To carry out all reasonable tasks expected by management
  • Assist in team building exercises leading to effective MCC requirements
  • To understand the parameters of the business through the Sous Chefs & Junior Sous Chefs objectives
  • Ensure attendance of all relevant training and development courses
  • To assist in receiving food deliveries ensuring that produce is correctly checked, stored & delivery notes signed for & passed on to procurement managers as requested

  • To ensure that you are fully equipped to operate Major Match Days
  • To assist in operating the ground as efficiently as possible
  • To maintain support across all functions of the ground
  • Attend at all Major Matches with extended hours as appropriate
  • Any other duties as required whether in the Department or elsewhere around the Ground

Future prospects

On completion of level 2 intermediate apprenticeship you may be able to progress to level 3 advanced apprenticeship.

Things to consider

• Remember you will be on your feet all day! • You will be working in a hot and busy kitchen • Also, you will work a rota which may require you to work weekends and evenings. Please also consider your commute in terms of time and cost.

  • At all times be responsible for the safety of yourself and others through adherence to Club (and legal) safety rules and procedures.
  • Be familiar with fire procedures and evacuation procedures and be prepared to operate when /if trained as Fire Warden.
  • To work in a safe manner at all times.
  • To undertake ‘risk assessments’ as appropriate (after training)
  • To communicate necessary Health & Safety information to full time staff/casual staff/visitors/customers.
  • Wear and use any required protective clothing when required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our catering department for a self-motivated apprentice chef to assist the Kitchen brigade with the continuing delivery of meeting & events, hospitality, & match day food whilst maintaining the high standards that are expected by guests of Lord’s. The role varies greatly day to day as the kitchen team caters for small, private events up to international matches. Key duties producing food of the highest standards with creative style, whilst working in an exciting and motivating environment. The role will also ensuring adherence to the Club and legislative hygiene and safety standards.
