An exciting agriculture opportunity is available for someone to work at a dairy farm in Ruan Minor, Helston.

The successful apprentice will be helping with traditional farm activities such as:

  • Stock work
  • Moving of livestock
  • Milking
  • Provision of food and clean water
  • Monitoring and rearing of calves
  • Preparing, bedding up and cleaning accommodation

Tractor driving (once trained), although this will not be the main focus.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Practical knowledge and understanding of the agriculture industry would prove beneficial, but may not prove essential if suitable interest, motivation and determination are held.
  • Excellent timekeeping skills.

A car driving license would be greatly beneficial, as this enables the safe use of a tractor (alongside training).

Qualifications required

2 GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade D or above (or equivalent) are essential – however, applicants with relevant prior experience but without the stated qualifications may be considered, though must be prepared to work towards their level 1 functional skills qualifications.

Future prospects

It is hopeful that a long term employment opportunity will be created for the apprentice, upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

This position is available for an immediate start. The vacancy may therefore close swiftly if a suitable candidate is found. All published dates can therefore be flexible and will be dependent on suitable candidates coming forward and registering appropriate interest. Please ensure that you can get to and from the workplace reliably and access Duchy College Rosewarne for your training days. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.40 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
