    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Qualifications required

At least 3 GCSE’s A*-D

GCSE Maths & English A* - C grade is helpful but not essential. No other qualifications required as training will be provided

Future prospects

Permanent position will be available upon completion if all expectations are met. Progression to a higher role a very strong possibility. Great opportunities to broaden your skills in other areas of maintenance

Things to consider

Due to the nature of the business, the apprentice may be required to work some weekends and evenings at busy times on occasion. Candidates must also be prepared to work outside in all weather and heavy lifting/strenuous work will be involved. Applicant must be able to commute or arrange transport to craven college in Skipton once a week between the months of November and march

Training provider

This is an apprenticeship in Horticulture and will include a combination of workplace training and college attendance. Working with your employer and the college staff, you will reach a high level of competence in your role in readiness for End Point Assessment at the end of your apprenticeship. 

Apprenticeships are changing and detailed information about the assessment of this apprenticeship is not yet available. More information on course content and assessment methods will be discussed at interview.

If candidates do not have A*-C (4-9) in Maths & English at GCSE there will be a requirement to do Functional Skills up to Level 2.
