The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
- Sowing, nurturing cultivating and planting plants and shrubbery
- Working/maintaining machinery and tools
- Grass cutting/strimming
- General ground maintenance including leaf blowing/collecting/weeding/cleaning
Requirements and prospects
- Good communication skills
- Able to communicate well with customers
- Ability to follow instruction
- Excellent team working skills
All additional skills/training in this position will be provided over the duration of the apprenticeship supported by the college.
- Engaging personality with a willingness to learn new skills.
- Must be a friendly team player comfortable working as part of a team.
- Punctuality is a strong must for any applicant.
At least 3 GCSE’s A*-D
GCSE Maths & English A* - C grade is helpful but not essential. No other qualifications required as training will be provided

About the employer
This is an apprenticeship in Horticulture and will include a combination of workplace training and college attendance. Working with your employer and the college staff, you will reach a high level of competence in your role in readiness for End Point Assessment at the end of your apprenticeship.

If candidates do not have A*-C (4-9) in Maths & English at GCSE there will be a requirement to do Functional Skills up to Level 2.
