The Spa Hotel is offering an exciting opportunity to join their experienced team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about working in a kitchen and also interested in learning new skills. You will be working in a demanding environment completing practical tasks to meet the needs of business and customer.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining up to date product and menu knowledge
  • Maintaining a high standard of food preparation and presentation
  • Ensuring portion and quality control.


Willing to learn, good dexterity, need to be clean, good time keeping, keen to improve and learn.
Be confident, willing to learn, able to multitask. Knowledge of working in a busy kitchen and cooking experience would be an advantage.
Good timekeeping and organisational skills also be enthusiastic and have a keen interest in food and the hospitality industry.
Be responsible for maintaining up to date product and menu knowledge, and maintaining a high standard of food preparation and presentation, ensuring portion and quality control.

As an Apprentice you will be included on a Level 2 Commis Chef qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship.  This will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor coming to visit you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

Desired skills

The business is looking for somebody with enthusiasm and a desire to learn and develop. You will need to be confident and have good communication skills. Customer service is one of the most important elements of working in hospitality therefore excellent inter-personal skills are vital for this role.

Personal qualities

You need to be passionate about food and have a strong desire to work in the hospitality industry. You will need to have a positive attitude, be well presented, motivated, reliable and punctual. You will need to be able to adapt to change.

Qualifications required

L2 Food Hygiene preferred but not essential.

This will become a permanent position for the successful candidate.

Things to consider

This is a busy, practical job role which requires you to work evenings and weekends. You must have a flexible attitude to work with the requirements of the workplace. There are excellent travel links to the site. The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
