On our Manufacturing Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, you’ll get to study towards an engineering bachelor’s degree and work alongside world-class engineers. The programme

The beginning of our four-year programme will see you undertake foundation training at a further education college, which will give you a broad appreciation of manufacturing engineering principles. After this, you’ll be ready to embark on a series of six-month placements. You’ll undertake internal job-specific training courses over the remaining three years as well as studying for your university qualification on day-release. All of this will give you practical knowledge in areas such as introducing new products or controlling change to existing manufacturing processes, acquiring new technology and continuous improvement. You’ll learn how to:

  • Manage projects and costs
  • How to design and validate manufacturing processes
  • Solve engineering problems
  • Implement quality assurance methods

What you’ll do

Our Manufacturing Engineers are amongst the best in their field. To develop some of the most advanced manufacturing processes in the world, they have to be. They work across Aerospace, Marine and Nuclear technology, and you’ll join them in one of those businesses.

Turning our designs into reality, you’ll learn from engineers, customers, suppliers and operations specialists in every part of Rolls-Royce around the globe, so you’ll enjoy plenty of exposure as you gain the experience you need to become a vital part of our future. Qualifications required

Our Apprenticeships involve a fair amount of academic work. For that reason, we’ll need you to have already achieved a certain level in your education:

  • We look for three A-Levels at A* to B in Maths and either Physics, Chemistry or Engineering, or an Engineering-focused Level 3 Extended BTEC.

What next? There are four stages on your journey to becoming an apprentice with us. 1. APPLICATION Once you’ve decided which programme is for you, you’ll need to find an appropriate vacancy and apply online in 'search and apply’. ONLINE ASSESSMENTS Immediately after submitting your application you will receive two emails – one to acknowledge this has been received, and; – a second inviting you to take our online assessments. You’ll need to complete the assessments provided within ten days for your application to be considered. COME TO OUR ASSESSMENT CENTRE If your application is successful, you'll be invited to our assessment centre. The day consists of: • Innovation and Motivation Exercise: provides an opportunity for you to understand more about our vision for the future, including the importance of finding the next generation of graduates and apprentices. You’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your motivation for applying to us and enthusiasm for our business. • Technical interview: we’d like to gain an understanding of how well you are able to learn and understand information that relates to our business. We’re also interested in your understanding of Rolls-Royce and the different sectors in which we operate. • Group exercise: we’ll ask you to participate in a group activity that will allow us to observe how you work with others in a team environment. 4. STARTING AT ROLLS-ROYCE If your application is successful, we’ll be in touch with the good news. Once you accept a role, we’ll make joining us as easy as possible.
