We wish to recruit an enthusiastic Apprentice to join the Furniture Manufacturing team within Furl. The successful candidate will be trained in all aspects of Furniture and Component Manufacturing through WEBS structured training programme as well as on the job training.

    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

. Your job role will include:

  • Working in a team
  • Safe use of  hand tools
  • Making components for furniture ijncluding bed and sofa frames
  • Assembling bed frames, sofa frames, sofa bed frames and other producats
  • Maintain stock
  • Using own initiative
  • Working to deadlines
  • Using machines to produce components, such as Band Saws, Cross Saws and sanders
  • Taking deliveries
  • Getting items ready for dispatch
  • Following Heath and Safety to ensure a safe working practice

Training provider

  • Training will be provided in all areas of General Furniture Manufacturing Level 2 Standards
  • If the Apprentice has already completed GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or above or equivalent and can provide copies of certificates, they will not be required to complete Functional Skills, but will be given the opportunity to work towards a higher level of Functional Skills if they wish to do so
