DUTIES:

  • To supervise children in the day to day routine.
  • Helping with daily diaries.
  • Ensuring that strangers do not get let into the building.
  • Helping children with their learning, play, educational and social development.
  • To supervise activities.
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
  • Ensure good hygiene and cleanliness is maintained at all times.
  • Record accidents on the accident forms and ensure that parents sign them and when necessary a head injury form is completed.
  • To provide a service to parents.
  • The work is mostly indoors, although there may be some outdoor tasks supervising play or taking children on outings and visits.
  • To love and care for children.
  • Shift pattern may vary.

  • The ability to relate and interact with children.
  • Must be able to pass a DBS check & have right to work on the UK.
  • Must want to work with children & understand the other responsibilities that go hand in hand with working in a nursery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with parents, carers and other childcare professionals.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Good observation and organisational skills.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and ability to identify when they need to ask for support.

Things to consider

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
