    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

You will undertake a wide range of administrative tasks to support the work of the Senior Administrator. These will include the following:

  • Make and receive telephone calls and take clear and accurate messages
  • Use electronic message systems, communicating with Trust staff and stakeholders
  • Filing
  • Photocopying
  • Raise purchase orders
  • Handle incoming and outgoing post
  • Provide administrative support to higher level management, projects and events
  • Organise and report data
  • Use and maintain stationery stock items
  • Support the organisation of meetings
  • Meet and welcome visitors

Requirements and prospects

  • Confident to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Able to produce written communications which are readily understood
  • Good communication and numeracy skills
  • Ability to retain information and follow instructions

  • GCSE grade A*-C in Maths and English (or equivalent).

Training provider

In addition to training and mentoring in the workplace you will attend college one day a week to complete a Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration and Functional Skills in Maths, English and IT if you do not already have a Grade C/4 GCSE in these subjects.
