Successful applicants will be enrolled on our Apprentice Programme which is tailored to provide a full range of experience throughout our manufacturing processes.

This programme includes:

  • The operating and setting of CNC turning and milling machines
  • Quality control experience, and other aspects of the production process including raw material preparation
  • Machine maintenance
  • Finishing operations for despatch.

Training on both the above will include all aspects of Health & Safety to ensure we maintain our safe systems of work.

Qualifications required

Applicants should have 4 GCSEs at grades C or above, or equivalent grade 4-9 in English language, maths and a science subject (predicted grades or equivalent qualifications).  Candidates will also be asked to sit some aptitude tests.

Things to consider

This Position will require initial full-time training at SETA in Millbrook, Southampton to obtain a thorough grounding in Engineering, attending 37 hours a week for 47 weeks ensuring you are ready to join your employer with the basic skills and confidence to be an asset to their company. Please ensure you understand you will be required to travel daily to Southampton for the initial training and that the main place of work is in Salisbury

Training provider

Working with SETA, our training provider, Mikina Engineering have designed an Advanced Apprenticeship training programme that meets our needs and will challenge our Apprentices to do well.

Initially, you will begin full- time at SETA to undertake your Foundation Competence practical elements and a BTEC in Engineering.

Under the new standard this full time will ready you for the return to Ottaway Engineering 4 days a week (one day at SETA to continue the BTEC)

During this time, you will create a Level 3 portfolio and meet on a regular basis with an assessor from SET. To complete your apprenticeship, you will be required to undertake an independent end – point assessment, which when successfully attained will gain the apprenticeship certification
