Work in an exciting and innovative Cowork Hub at Exeters Quay ( as a community development and digital marketing apprentice.

The Generator CoWork Hub is considered a focal point of business startup in Exeter with over 100 different organisations basing themselves at the hub (including tech, marketing, social enterprise and financial industries).

The role consists of developing this innovative community through face to face interactions, arranging of events and use of developing key social media strategies.

The role will also consist of developing the space and managing the business elements of running a cowork space including reporting, invoicing and cost management.

The Generator Cowork space is the perfect location for someone looking at gaining a lot of valuable skill sets from a range of inspiring professionals and industries.

The role is varied and fast moving, but will allow the successful candidate the ability to develop key personal and professional skills alongside the theoretical knowledge gained from college.

Duties would include:

Reception Responsibilities:

  • Welcome new users to the space in a confident and friendly manner
  • Provide well informed tours of the space and arrange all needed logistics of new users in the space
  • Answer incoming calls in a professional manner and action requests
  • Maintain a professional environment in the space at all times
  • Develop community relationships with current users of the space and become an integral member of the team

Marketing duties:

  • Create monthly newsletters for the space through our mailchimp account
  • Update the website with relevant user content
  • Maintain social media accounts (including twitter, facebook and instagram)
  • Assist in the development of network events

Business duties:

  • Track and maintain petty cash
  • Monthly invoicing for users
  • Use of cashflow forecasts

While the above gives a good idea of the key responsibilities and tasks of the role, it is important to note that there are constantly evolving tasks requiring a need for flexibility.

Future employment if applicable. Option to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship if applicable also.

Things to consider

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
