    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

  • Working week

    Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00 pm. Saturdays during peak times and overtime where necessary. 37.5 hours per week. Half hour lunch break (unpaid) 15 minute afternoon break (paid)

  • Operating a large industrial embroidery machine to embroider logos directly onto clothing, working off an order form.
  • Framing multiple garments in the correct position making sure that the correct logo and colours are used.
  • Checking the order form and making sure that the correct amount of garments, sizes and colours are present before machining.
  • Striping off the backing, trimming logos of loose threads, packing clothing.
  • Keeping the embroidery machines operating at all times, threading the machines when threads snap, and changing spools.
  • Signing for and signing off jobs on our bespoke operating computer system.
  • Fixing mistakes with embroidery.
  • Keeping workstation tidy.

  • Willingness and keenness to learn and listen to supervisor and production managers and take instruction

Qualifications required

The right candidate should have GCSEs at grades C or above in English Language and Maths or equivalent.
