    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Duties would include:

  • Reading engineering drawings
  • Working with hand tools and raw materials. You will be able to use measuring aids (tape measure, verniers) and develop an understanding of what tolerances are relevant
  • Working with steel and understanding gauges and the differences in various metals
  • Working within a welding department to gain knowledge of both Mig and Tig welding
  • General maintenance and tooling duties
  • CAD drawings and programming of CNC machines within the department

Qualifications required

You will need to hae obtained Maths and English GCSE's at grade C or above, or the equivalent qualification.

An additional science GCSE grade C or above, or relevant equivalent qualification would be an advantage with this application.

As an apprentice of The Alan Nuttall Partnership, you will become an employee of the company as soon as your apprenticeship starts.

Things to consider

The exact wage for this vacancy can be discussed at interview level, however it will not be lower than the national minimum wage for apprentices.
