Hairdressing Apprentice CONTROVERSY LIMITED
This Hairdressing Apprentice role involves providing general assistance to stylists. You will be learning and become knowledgeable on all aspects for hairdressing, as well as maintaining salon standards and etiquette and ensuring the work place is kept clean and presentable.

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
The right candidate must be willing to act as a team player and fit into a busy but friendly working environment. The role of an apprentice is essential in ensuring the smooth running of the salon.
Key responsibilities and day to day tasks will be:
- Customer care- seeing to customers’ needs, ensuring they are comfortable and happy.
- Reception duties- answering the phone, booking and amending appointments etc.
- Assisting your colleagues by preparing equipment and products.
- Shampooing, replenishing stock, maintaining salon standards of cleanliness.
- Filling in clients records and maintaining health and safety procedures.
The apprentice will also take part in training and will develop hairdressing techniques. Must maintain a good level of appearance and personal hygiene. They must be an excellent time keeper with a willingness to progress and learn.
Requirements and prospects
Some natural flair and a keen interest in hairdressing, coupled with good verbal skills and a love of people,

- Must have enthusiasm and ambition
- Must have the ability to follow instructions as well as work on your own initiative.
No specific qualification required.
It is preferred that you have GCSE English and Maths Grades A*-C or Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 1.

About the employer
You will attend day release at Barnfield College working towards an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Hairdressing.
You will be assigned an Assessor to visit you at thw workplace.
You may be required to complete functional skills dependant on previous qualifications.
