    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

As an apprentice your job role will be to:

  • Help with the everyday running of the salon, cleaning, shampooing, drink making
  • General help to the stylists - make appointments run smoothly. You will be required to observe during the days, on par with what you are learning at college.
  • You will also have designated training time in salon to prepare for assessments, the more able you become the more you will be involved in looking the clients with supervision until you are able to preform the services to a great standard alone.
  • Working 34 hours covering shifts from Tuesday- Wednesday 10-4pm Thursday 12-8pm Friday 10-5pm Saturday 9-5pm with one day at College
  • We are an aveda exclusive salon in Horsham town. we are a natural brand. we offer all types of hair dressing
  • We are looking for an apprentice to come join our team to learn all aspects of hairdressing some of the jobs will include shampooing, conditioning, drying and styling hair mixing and applying hair colouring.
  • End Point Assessment:
  • This qualification includes an element of End-Point Assessment (EPA) which is assessed by an Independent End-Point Assessor.
  • Skills, knowledge and behaviours specified in the standard will be assessed via a practical assessment and oral questioning.
  • The apprentice is responsible for providing suitable models with the support of the employer or training provider, if necessary. The models can be familiar to the apprentice. The duration of the end-point assessment will be a maximum of 6 hours (excluding breaks), with a minimum of 2 models. They will be required to create the following:
  • One creative restyle cut and blow-dry finish
  • One hair-up style
  • Two colour and/or lightening hair service
  • One woven highlights (minimum of a T-section)
  • One other colouring technique.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Shampooing and knowledge of day to day running of the salon would be preferred, but if the right candidate comes along this is not essential

Professional; outgoing; willing to learn; confident; friendly; passionate; punctual; well kept; well presented

Qualifications required

GCSE A-C in English and Maths or Equivalent although not essential. None required just good people skills and want to learn the job. would be good if you have some knowledge of hairdressing

Future prospects

On completion of apprenticeship you will be offered the choice to take L3 apprenticeship is not done so already and you will be given a trial period to show you can build and maintain a client base.

Things to consider

Own transport is required, trail basis will apply and if we are all happy we will carry on, there is no parking included, we are directly opposite bus stop and a 10 min walk from the train station.
