    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

An opportunity to gain valuable experience within a busy Local Authority Housing department.  The successful applicant will be a key and invaluable support to the Housing Finance team which is one of the busiest and diverse sections of the whole council. 

Duties will include:

  • Scanning and processing incoming post. 
  • Assisting with outgoing correspondence, printing letters, batching and taking to Post Room.
  • Answering enquiries both face to face and over the telephone from internal and external customers.
  • Providing administrative back up for Housing Finance and supported housing staff.
  • Talking minutes for meetings.
  • Taking bookings and processing paperwork for community centres.

Training provider

  • On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework - consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) and the Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Workbook.
  • It may be necessary for you to complete Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT – subject to previous achieved grades.
  • Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
