As part of the Apprentice programme you will learn how to:

  • Administer vehicle runs on the Transport Management System (TMS).
  • Invoice to Branches/Customers ensuring all revenue is captured.
  • Scanning proof of deliveries to the TMS.
  • Deal with customer, partner and driver queries.
  • Debrief of drivers ensuring all delivery notes are correctly signed, printed, dated.
  • Train to understand all driver hours’ rules and regulations.
  • Train to understand QSHE requirements in a Transport Operation
  • Provision of holiday cover in the operation.

Qualifications required

  • You are required to have an excellent level of literacy and numeracy
  • You ideally should have a minimum of 2 years experience in a customer services role.
  • You should be computer literate and able to adapt to using in-house computer systems.

NVQ in Logistics, strong possibility of a full time position within the Logistics Business Unit.

Things to consider

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Training provider

The apprenticeship programme will consist of:

• A fully embedded induction programme delivered by the employer and Outsource

• Allocation of an Outsource assessor who will carry out regular assessment, mentoring and support visits

• Off the job training at one of Outsource’s training centres

• On the job training delivered by the employer

• Quarterly formal progress review meetings with the Outsource assessor and employer

The apprenticeship will consist of the following elements:

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) – This part of the qualification is assessed on the job through observations of performance, professional discussions, product evidence, professional discussions and Q&A sessions to judge job competency

• Knowledge and Understanding – This part of the qualification is to ensure all the teaching and learning through on the job development and off the job training is retained and demonstrated through performance in your job role

• Functional Skills – This part of the programme provides those apprentices who have not achieved GCSE’s in English and Maths the opportunity to gain a qualification in English, Mathematics and ICT. Those candidates that have achieved GCSE’s in these subjects may be exempt from taking functional skills
