You will be helped to build relationships with peers, allowing you to achieve your professional development objectives.

Your duties will include:

  • To undertake work activities within the parts, drawing and document service function, primarily but not limited to the processing of requests for copies of records, and the issue and distribution of new and revised customer drawings and documents.
  • To assist in the safe, secure and structured storage of all types of hardcopy and electronic media records.
  • To undertake the accurate input and maintenance of records, and related information to Raildata systems in accordance with customer specifications and laid down procedures.
  • To assist in the document / drawing review and notification service as required under the direction of the Document / Drawing Services team Leader.
  • To undertake minor engineering drawing amendments in consultation with the Project Manager & Parts Data Team Leader.
  • To assist in the input of the job request form information to the RIBS database and produce reports for invoicing purposes.
  • To update and maintain Documentation and Drawing kits.
  • To assist in the creation and distribution of the “new and amended” drawing list on a weekly basis.
  • To assist in the control of the distribution of electronic CAD files to clients and the re issue of subsequent amendments.
  • To assist in the interpretation and extract relevant parts data from engineering drawings and documentation for input to the PADS system.
  • To assist with the processing of applications for PADS catalogue numbers ensuring all relevant data and relationships are identified for input to the PADS system.
  • To assist manage the interfaces with key IT applications and service suppliers.
  • To provide assistance in the provision of the PADS helpdesk service dealing with user queries and the maintenance of PADS user data with guidance from the Applications Manager.
  • To provide assistance to ensure accurate and timely monthly billing for PADS system usage and Raildata’s activities.
  • Minor exposure to project techniques providing assistance to the Projects Manager in the estimation, scheduling and running of Raildata projects.

Qualifications required

GCSEs Grades A to E in Maths, English and ICT (or acceptable equivalent). 

You will also need to complete an on-line initial assessment, which will help us guide you to the most appropriate programme to meet your needs.

Things to consider

It is highly essential that you are able to travel daily to Derwent House, London Road, Derby to arrive on time for work. Raildata is a data management business stream within the Serco Rail Technical Services business. We manage and store a variety of data on behalf of a number of key railway customers, predominantly using a large and powerful database that we make available throughout the UK rail industry via a web portal. The Serco Rail Technical Services business consists of 57 Engineers / Rail technicians, providing technical services such as vehicle testing, metallurgy, NDT and drawing and documentation management to the rail industry. The Business has six separate business streams, each managed by a Team Leader/Manager reporting to the Director, Rail Technical Services. You will be required to undergo security checks, which includes a check of criminal records.
