The role of Apprentice Accounts Payable Assistant will include but not limited to:

  • Processing of contractor time sheets from different time recording systems to produce self billing invoices and matching with supplier invoices
  • Checking of contractor rates against respective contracts for accuracy
  • Checking invoices for correct VAT treatment
  • Adding time sheet details to master spread sheet
  • Prepare import files for invoices to be loaded onto Sage Accounts System
  • File Invoices
  • Deal with enquiries from contractors and third party suppliers
  • Assist Accounts Payable Manager with ad hoc requirements

Qualifications required

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Training provider

You will work towards 4 mandatory units and choose optional units. These will be selected by both you and the employer making sure the units are relevant to the job you are undertaking. Level 2 Diploma in Business and Administration and Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths, English and ICT. An Employment Rights & Responsibilities workbook will be completed as well as developing Personal Learning and Thinking skills
