We are looking for an apprentice engineer to join our growing team of engineers based from Basildon. You will be working with experienced engineers, providing maintenance services on access and safety equipment on buildings across London and the South East. This varied and interesting role will involve working on roofs and in the ‘cradle’ equipment themselves on different sites every day. A head for heights and a genuine interest in electrical and mechanical systems is essential.

Role:

The role will require you to assist with maintenance, repair and inspection services of access and safety equipment located on buildings. As well as the on-site maintenance tasks, it would also involve assisting with site paperwork using tablets and communicating with the office team and members of the customer staff.

The role would involve understanding mechanical and electrical aspects of the equipment. Equipment varies from site to site bringing variety to your working day.

Tasks would include:

  • Using a variety tools to carry out maintenance and repair works on mechanical equipment on site.
  • Assisting the lead engineer in fault finding.
  • Riding in the cradle over the side of a building to test functionality.
  • Assisting with repair tasks in the workshop.
  • Assisting with inspection and testing requirements using gauges and other tools.
  • Completing paperwork and collecting equipment information.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the team on all tasks in a safe, diligent and practical manner.
  • Conducting yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Learning and developing your knowledge through formal education and hands on experience.

Reporting:

  • You would report to the Engineering Supervisor but on day to day work tasks, you would report to the lead engineer that you are teamed up with on the specific day.
