    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Excellent opportunity for an apprentice dental nurse to work alongside highly qualified dentists/dental lecturers/tutors, in a busy private specialist and general dental practice.

Applicants must be highly motivated, eager to learn and work well as part of a team as well as on their own initiative. High levels of customer service are also required.

Training will be given in all aspects of dental nursing, including, oral surgery, endodontics, paediatric dentistry, prosthodontics and general dentistry.

Applicants will also be trained in decontamination procedures and all reception duties.

Other duties to include:

  • Passing instruments to dentist or hygienist.
  • Removing water and saliva from the patient's mouth during treatment.
  • Preparing materials to make fillings.
  • Making sure that the patient is relaxed and comfortable at all times.
  • Keeping the surgery tidy and sterile.
  • Sterilising instruments.
  • Helping record information about each patient.
